Purple Line Will Be Improved This Year: CTA

$30 million modernization project will restore tracks on Chicago's north side.

Chicago Transit Authority officials today announced a $30 million modernization project on the CTA’s Purple Line will begin later this month, according to an NBC-5-Chicago report.

The Purple Line Express project - the largest for the rail in more than four decades - will restore tracks between the Jarvis and Lawrence stations, giving riders a “smoother, faster, and more reliable service.”

Work is expected to begin on July 20 and be completed by Thanksgiving.
