Spring Blood Drive Being Held This Week In Wilmette
The Wilmette and Winnetka-Kenilworth Fire Departments are hosting a spring blood drive on April 8.
WILMETTE, IL — The Wilmette and Winnetka/Kenilworth Fire Departments are hosting a blood drive this Wednesday.
The Vitalant Bloodmobile will be at 1304 Lake Ave. in Wilmette from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 8. To see additional 2026 blood drive dates, click here.
Residents were encouraged to eat well, hydrate and bring their IDs to best prepare for their donation.

According to Vitalant, someone is in need of blood or platelets every two seconds in the U.S.
At the beginning of 2026, the American Red Cross declared a severe shortage of blood. As forecasters warn of severe storm risks this spring, the Red Cross said it's more important than ever to donate blood and prevent death in the case of disaster.

“Spring ushers in some of the year’s most volatile weather — and when disasters strike, they can upend lives in an instant,” said Edgar Olivo, regional executive for the Red Cross. “Whether families are facing a major storm, home fire or other crisis, they’re counting on the Red Cross to be there with relief and hope."
