Summer Acting Classes for Youth at ATC

Actors Training Center in Wilmette hosts a variety of summer acting classes for performers aged 2nd - 12th Grade.

Looking for the perfect fit for the performer in your life? Look no further than Wilmette! The Actors Training Center hosts a variety of acting classes for young, eager performers 2nd Grade - 12th Grade. Different classes cover different techniques and acting approaches, including: on camera and filmmaking, performing through fairytales, monologue and audition technique, and improv and sketch comedy.

Some classes are by audition only, so make sure to check and see which require a scheduled slot to apply.

FABLES & FAIRYTALES (2nd-3rd Grade)
Mon - Fri | 10am - 1pm | July 9 - July 20
Through well-known fairytales, this high-energy camp teaches age-appropriate acting skills. Through physical expression, improvisation and play this group will bond as a real theatre ensemble. Working together the group will create a play for friends and family on the last day of camp.


PAGE TO SCREEN (4th-8th Grade -- Divided into 2 sections by age)
Mon - Fri | 9am - 1pm | June 25 - July 6
This unique summer program has students working from an original short film script written by the students under the guidance of our professional instructors. Next we bring in a professional filmmaker and students experience acting and working on a movie set while building important interpersonal skills. Their film will be screened for the public at a red carpet premiere at the Wilmette Theatre in early September.

ACTORS BOOT CAMP (6th-8th Grade)
Mon - Fri | 9am-1pm | July 23 - August 3
An introductory version of our wildly popular Teen Professional Summer Intensive, this boot camp prepares our young actors for the next step through monologue, improv, on-camera, and scene study work. Actors will learn the imperative and challenging art of working honestly and fearlessly with all mediums of acting.


COMEDY LAB (7th-12th Grade)
Mon - Fri | 2pm - 6pm | July 9 - July 20
Dive into the world of comedy and satire. Use physical play, improv, sketch writing, and performance technique all critical skills necessary to foster a unique point of view in comedy writing and performing. The class caps off with fully written sketches to be performed for friends and family!
PERFORMANCE DATE July 20 @ 6pm


FILMMAKING FOR TEENS (9th-12th Grade)
Mon - Fri | 2pm - 6pm | July 23 - August 3
This unique summer program creates original films under the guidance of experienced writers and filmmakers giving students an overview of the mechanics of script writing, production, and acting for film. Students work together to find a theme and establish a storyline & script for production. Their film will be screened for the public at a “red carpet” premiere at the the Wilmette Theatre in early September.


PROFESSIONAL SUMMER INTENSIVE (9th-12th Grade)
Mon - Fri | 9am - 4pm | August 6 - August 17
The Summer Professional Intensive was designed in 2004 by Founder/Director Carole Dibo with a focus on helping high school students get inside the business with a curriculum that pushes them to an industry level of professionalism. Monologue, scene study, accents and dialects, on camera, and voiceover are all covered. Students have the opportunity to meet and ask questions to Casting Directors, Actors and Agents. The students conclude the 2 weeks with an audition ready monologue, headshots, and a showcase for family, friends and invited Chicago professionals.
FINAL REQUIRED SHOWCASE: Monday, August 20 @ 7:30pm
