As previously reported, the Triennial Reassessment Notices for New Trier Township property owners are scheduled to be mailed on April 1, 2019. Property Owners will have 30 days from the date of the Assessor’s notice to file appeals with the County Assessor’s office. “You do not need to hire an attorney to file an appeal,” stated Jan Churchwell, New Trier Township Assessor. “My office is here to assist New Trier residents who wish to appeal their 2019 assessed valuations.”

Assessor Churchwell explained that her office can provide information about comparable properties and recent sales very quickly. She added, “We can also provide printed forms and guidance for people wishing to file their own appeals. We cannot prepare appeals in advance since we won’t have updated information ourselves until April 1. We are keeping track of inquiries and will notify people who have asked for notification as the information becomes available.”

Callers are asked to provide their name, phone number, address or PIN number, and the reason for the call. Appeals will have priority during the window, and those who do not provide clear information will be served last. Please note that the Assessor’s office does not make appointments.
