Tutor Accused of Touching 9-Year Old Boy He Was Babysitting

The 32-year old Northwest Indiana man was charged with criminal sexual abuse by police in Wilmette.

A Northwest Indiana man has been charged with criminal sexual abuse following allegations he committed a sexual act on a 9-year-old Wilmette boy he was babysitting.

Undercover Wilmette police arrested Brett J. Zagorac, 32, of Munster, Ind. on Wednesday at Corner Bakery in the Edens Plaza for an alleged December 2014 incident in which he committed a sexual act on the boy he had been tutoring for a month.

The boy’s parents told police they placed an ad for a tutor/babysitter on the Internet and Zagorac had contacted them with an offer in November. After tutoring the victim when the parents were present, Zagorac - also known as B.J. Zagorac and B.J. Zagr - committed the alleged act while babysitting a month later.

“After his parents learned information concerning the background of Brett Zagorac, the victim disclosed the incident to his parents,” according to a police report.

Zagorac has a history of touching children, according to The Times of Northwest Indiana, who reported on a 2010 arrest in which Zagorac allegedly touched a 5-year-old Portage, Ind. boy he had also agreed to tutor. Then, police said Zagorac would advertise himself on Craigslist as a tutor.
