Who Steals a Starbuck's Tip Jar? Wilmette Police Want to Know

DUI
Scott L. Lurie, 23, of the 7700 block of Kildare Ave, Skokie, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after an March 29 traffic stop.

Police pulled over Lurie at about 12:25 a.m. in the 1600 block of Wilmette Avenue for multiple traffic violations, according to the police report. During the stop, the officer could smell a strong odor of marijuana and alcohol coming from Lurie, the report added.
Lurie failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody, the report stated. A vehicle search uncovered drug paraphernalia and about 4 grams of marijuana, the report added. Lurie was asked to a blood and urine test, but he refused.

THEFT
The tip jar was reported stolen March 31 from Starbuck's, 739 Green Bay, Road. An employee told Wilmette police that a woman who entered the coffee shop and used the bathroom took the jar off the counter when she left.
WARRANT ARREST
Armad Jones, 21, of the 14400 block of South Pulaski Road, Midlothian, was arrested on a Forest Park warrant for retail theft April 2.
Police responded to a 11:52 a.m. call about a suspicious person—Jones—at Isabella Hair Design, 515 4th St., who entered the salon and asked to use the restroom, the report stated. Jones was in the bathroom for about 15 minutes before leaving wearing different clothes, the report added. A salon employee then found an anti-theft security sensor in the restroom garbage.
Jones was found later at 200 Dupree Place, and police discovered the Forest Park arrest warrant for a previous retail theft incident, the report stated. Jones was taken into custody before being turned over to Forest Park police.
RECOVERED STOLEN PROPERTY
A Blue Trek Mountain Track bicycle that had been reported stolen was discovered April 2 by a resident underneath some old fencing next to his garage in the 600 block of Isabella Street.
The bike had been reported stolen March 18 from an unlocked garage in the 700 block of Linden Avenue.
