Wilmette Blotter: Grocery Store Line Gets Violent

The following arrest information was supplied by the Wilmette police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Battery

Maureen F. Dyra, 72, of Wilmette was cited for battery at 3:54 p.m. Nov. 2 after she allegedly struck another Jewel-Osco shopper three times with her shopping cart. According to police, Dyra said she believed the woman had more than the 15 items allowed at the express checkout lane and hit her with her cart because she was impatient.

DUI

Sadiq S. Poonawala, 24, of Skokie was arrested at 4:31 a.m. Oct. 29 in the 1300 block of Sheridan Road for DUI, speeding, failure to dim headlights and driving without headlights when required.

Derek W. Hall, 22, of Ingleside was arrested at 2:39 a.m. Nov. 6 in the 900 block of Hibbard Road for DUI, improper lane usage and speeding after he was seen drifting between lanes and hitting the curb with his tires.

Driving without a license

Marcelino Pichardo, 28, of Chicago was arrested at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 1 in the 800 block of Chilton Lane for driving on a revoked license and unsafe vehicle equipment after police saw leaves and other landscaping debris fly off the flatbed of his pickup truck.

Ruben Rios-Hernandez, 26, of Blue Island was arrested at 10:35 a.m. Oct. 28 in the 1500 block of Lake Avenue for driving without a license, driving 15-20 mph above the speed limit and driving without insurance.

Raymundo Torres, 30, of Evanston was arrested at 3:33 p.m. Oct. 29 in the 400 block of Green Bay Road for driving without a license, driving without registration and improper use of registration. His pickup truck was registered as recreational, but he was using it to carry scrap metal.

Marino Gil Martinez, 31, of Evanston was arrested at 7:53 a.m. Oct. 27 for driving without a license, driving without insurance and using his vehicle for scrap metal collection without commercial registration.

Paul R. Walton, 51, of Chicago was arrested 11:51 a.m. Nov. 4 in the 1100 block of Linden Avenue for driving on a suspended license. He was also cited for driving with an expired registration.
