Wilmette Blotter: Indecency Arrest at Park; Port-o-Potties Set Afire
The following incidents were reported to police between June 5 and 12.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A handyman working at a residence in the 2100 block of Chestnut Avenue discovered the rear patio door had been smashed open between 8:20 a.m. June 9 and 12:12 p.m. June 10. Silver dinnerware, pillow cases and jewelry were reported missing. The family had been on vacation in Florida when the break-in occurred.

A home in the 800 block of Sheridan Road was burglarized between 6:30 a.m. and 5:11 p.m. June 9. An alarm was triggered after a rear door to the attached garage was forced open. The resident estimated the damaged door would cost $1,000 to repair.

BURGLARY MOTOR VEHICLE
A minifridge valued at $100 and a purple vacuum valued at $80 was taken from a trailer parked in the 1900 block of Birchwood Avenue between June 6 and 10.
DUI
A 38-year-old Texan was stopped near Interstate 94 in Wilmette for improper lane usage and speeding at 1:43 a.m. June 10. A breath test later revealed that he had a blood alcohol content of .118. The man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

THEFT
A bike was stolen from McKenzie Elementary School between 8:25 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. June 10.

A Wilmette man was arrested after taking a cab from Naperville to the 800 block of Hibbard Road and leaving without paying the $125 fare on June 12. The cab driver notified Wilmette police, who assisted in locating the 20-year-old resident in the 400 block of Beverly Drive. The man was taken into custody and admitted "making a huge mistake." The taxi driver said he wouldn't sign a complaint if the fare was paid.

A woman's purse was taken from the Corner Bakery in the 3200 block of Lake Avenue on June 6. The purse contained $250 in cash, a wallet valued at $175, a Green Dot debit card and identification documents.

A woman reported her purse stolen between 10:30 p.m. June 6 and 7:41 a.m. June 7. She put the handbag in the back of her car and drove to a convenience store in Wilmette. When she returned to her car, her purse was missing. The bag contained a green wallet, $800 in restoration hardware gift cards, a $1,200 Apple gift card, a driver's license and house keys.

Two males fled a cab without paying at 12:38 a.m. June 7 in the 100 block of Linden Avenue. The men took the taxi from Chicago to Wilmette and had a $30 fare.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A woman riding her bike near the dog beach in Gillson Park on June 6 reported she came across a man who was urinating in the middle of the park path. A 53-year-old man was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and possessing alcohol in the park.
ARSON
Two port-o-potties were set afire at 10:16 p.m. June 7 in Langdon Park, at the corner of Sheridan Road and Chestnut Avenue.
