Wilmette Blotter: Theft Arrest at Restaurant

Burglary to a motor vehicle
A GPS unit, digital camera and I-Pass were stolen from an unlocked 1997 Honda Civic between 7 p.m. March 16 and 5:30 a.m. March 17 in the 400 block of Pinecrest Lane.

A windshield-mounted GPS unit was stolen between 8:30 p.m. March 12 and 7:13 a.m. March 13 from a rental car in the 1200 block of Richmond Lane.
Envelopes containing personal information and partial credit card information were stolen between 10 p.m. March 12 and 6:15 a.m. March 13 from an unlocked Chevy Suburban in the 1300 block of Chestnut Avenue.

Criminal damage to property
A BB was shot through a large storm window at a home in the 500 block of Forest Avenue between 7 p.m. March 14 and 5:30 p.m. March 15. The damage is estimated at $100.
A screen was removed from a basement window and the window was shattered, triggering a security alarm, between 1 and 1:16 a.m. March 14 in the 100 block of Plum Tree Lane.
An unlocked cedar gate was pried open, damaging a metal bolt at 9:40 p.m. March 18 in the 200 block of Charles Place. The homeowner said she heard someone banging on her fence, and when she came outside to investigate a man said “Sorry, wrong place” and left.
Driving without a license
Manuel Ruben Ortega, 40, of Chicago was arrested for driving without ever having been issued a license after he was stopped for disregarding a stop sign at 5:33 p.m. March 19 in the 100 block of Lawndale Avenue. He was also cited for driving without insurance.
Sam Dean Challas, 52, of Chicago was arrested for driving with a license that had been expired for more than a year after he was stopped for making an improper turn at an intersection at 12:38 p.m. March 18 in the 900 block of Michigan Avenue.
Paul Ray Walton, 51, of Evanston was arrested for driving on a suspended driver's license and driving without a valid registration at 4:14 p.m. March 14 in the 2100 block of Eastwood Avenue in Evanston.
Nanci N. Edmond, 32, of Chicago was arrested for driving without a valid license at 5:17 p.m. March 15 in the 1300 block of Wilmette Avenue. She was also charged with driving without insurance and a front license plate.
DUI
John C. Tosarello, 72, of Wilmette was charged with DUI and improper lane usage at 7:48 p.m. March 18 in the 2500 block of Lake Avenue.
Carey M. Mitchell, 33, of Chicago was arrested for DUI at 2:17 a.m. March 6 in the 600 block of Sheridan Road. He was also charged with speeding and improper lane usage.
Steve Michael Sigesmund, 27, of Palm Beach, Florida was arrested for DUI at 10:16 p.m. March 17 in the 900 block of Skokie Boulevard. He was also charged with driving without lights when required.
Theft
An unlocked girl's bicycle was stolen between 6 p.m. March 16 and 9:45 a.m. March 18 from the backyard of a home in the 1600 block of Central Avenue.
A pocketbook containing an iPhone, credit cards and a driver's license was stolen between 9:30 and 10 p.m. March 17 at the Michigan Shore Country Club. The cards were fraudulently used to buy CDs.
James W. Stevens, 43, was arrested on a warrant for pocket-picking from Northbrook Police after he was allegedly caught taking a wallet from a woman's bag at 7:12 p.m. March 7 at Gilson's Restaurant.
Identity theft
A Comcast account was fraudulently opened using information belonging to a resident of the 3800 block of Wilmette Avenue and charged $911 for equipment and services between Dec. 9 and Jan. 24.
An Amazon account was opened using a credit card belonging to a resident of the 3400 block of Illinois Road and fraudulently charged for three transactions totaling $100.
Fraulent charges for a credit report and Clinique products were made using a credit card belonging to a resident of the 3500 block of Lake Avenue between Feb. 20 and March 12
Retail theft
Tokietha S. Brown, 34, was arrested for retail theft at 11:30 a.m. March 14 at Carson's after she took $485 worth of clothing into a fitting room, used a wire cutter to remove the theft-prevention sensors and stuffed the clothing in her shoulder purse.
