NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

IDENTITY THEFT

Several identity thefts have been reported in Glencoe. On Sep. 3 at 9:56 a.m., a resident at the 500 Block of Drexel Avenue reported that someone cashed a check in the amount of $2982 from their checking account.

On Sep. 3 at 1:05 p.m., a resident from the 500 Block of Drexel Avenue reported that someone used their information to file for unemployment benefits.

On Sep. 8 at 9:33 a.m., a resident of the 300 Block of Hazel Avenue reported that someone used their information to file for unemployment benefits.

KENILWORTH

The Kenilworth Police Dept. has no incidents to report from Aug. 27 - Sep. 3.

NORTHFIELD

ARRESTS

On Sep. 1 at 8:19 a.m., officers arrested Yazminia Cabellero Leiva of Chicago for allegedly driving while her license was suspended, and for going 35 mph in a 20 mph school zone in the area of Old Willow Road and North Happ Road. Caballero Leiva was cited and released on an I-bond pending an Oct. 8 Skokie court date.

FRAUD & IDENTITY THEFT

On Aug. 26 at 2:55 p.m., officers spoke to the owner of a residence on the 0-100 Block of Meadowview Drive, who reported numerous unauthorized checks being drawn from their checking account.

On Aug. 31 at 12:01 p.m., officers spoke to an employee at St. James the Less on the 500 Block of Sunset Ridge Road, who reported the theft of several checks that were cashed by unknown parties without authorization.

THEFT

On Sep. 3 at 10:37 a.m., a Wilmette resident reported their bike, reportedly worth $1000, was stolen from a bike rack at New Trier West High School between 7:45 and 3:45 p.m.

WILMETTE

ARREST - DUI

On Aug. 27 at 10:37 p.m. at the 3100 Block of Lake Avenue, Denise Heybrock of Palatine was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, operating an uninsured vehicle, driving without headlights, and not wearing a seatbelt. Heybrock was charged with a DUI and released on bond.

ARREST - TRAFFIC

On Aug. 28 at 4:33 p.m. at the 1700 Block of Lake Avenue, Gosmar Compos of Chicago was arrested on suspicion of speeding and not having a driver's license. She was cited and released on bond.

On Aug. 30 at 11:28 p.m. at the intersection of Green Bay Road and Rogers Avenue in Kenilworth, Christopher Rios of Chicago was arrested on suspicion of driving on a suspended license. He was released on bond.

On Sep. 2 at the corner of Lake Avenue and Green Bay Road, Jeffrey Allen of Lindenhurst was arrested on suspicion of speeding and driving on a revoked license. Allen was cited and released on bond.

BURGLARY TO A MOTOR VEHICLE

On Sep. 2 on the 400 Block of 9th Street, a victim reported that an unknown offender entered his unlocked vehicle and took personal items.

On Sep. 2 on the 900 Block of Forest Avenue, a victim reported that an unknown offender entered his unlocked vehicle but did not take anything.

On Sep. 2 on the 400 Block of 10th Street, a victim reported that an unknown offender entered his unlocked vehicle but didn’t take anything.

On Sep. 2 on the 900 Block of Oakwood Avenue, a victim reported that an unknown offender entered his unlocked vehicle but didn’t take anything.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Aug. 29, a Wilmette office located graffiti on the walls of the bridge at Illinois and Happ roads.

On Sep. 1, William Ackermann was arrested on suspicion of spray painting vulgarities on a residence on the 700 Block of Illinois Road. Police say Ackermann admitted to the damage and was arrested.

HARASSMENT

On Sep. 1, a woman on the 400 Block of Ridge Road reported that her daughter was being harassed by an acquaintance.

THEFT

On Aug. 29 at the Jewel Foods on the 400 Block of Green Bay Road, a woman reported that her wallet was stolen while shopping. Her credit cards were used in other jurisdictions.

On Aug. 31 at the Metra stop on the 700 Block of Green Bay Road, a man reported that his bike and bike lock were stolen.

On Sep. 1 on the 3100 Block of Lake Avenue, an employee reported her wallet and vehicle keys were stolen. Her card was later reported as being used in other jurisdictions.

On Sep. 2, a stolen vehicle was reported on the 900 Block of Forest Avenue. A spare key was left in the glovebox.

On Sep. 2, a woman reported that credit cards were stolen from her purse while she was eating at the Corner Bakery on the 3200 Block of Lake Avenue. The credit cards were later used in other jurisdictions.

TRESPASSING

On Sep. 1 at Wilmette Village Yards on the 700 Block of Laramie Avenue, an employee reported that a subject drove his vehicle into the Public Works Garage without permission. The same suspect was found in an unauthorized area of Public Works on Aug. 26. A Wilmette officer told the suspect to stay away from the property.

WINNETKA

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

On Aug. 30 at 3:26 p.m. on the 1300 Block of Scott Avenue, a victim reported that on Aug. 16 and 17, an unknown offender(s) threw eggs at their residence, causing $1000 in damages.

IDENTITY THEFT - AGGRAVATED

On Aug. 30 at 11:12 a.m. on the 1100 Block of Hamptondale Avenue, a victim reported that between Aug. 2 and 9, an unknown offender(s) withdrew more than $5,000 from their checking account.

TRAFFIC ARREST

On Sep. 4 at 9:15 p.m. on the 1000 Block of Sheridan Road, Michael S. Sperekas Jr. of Skokie was arrested for driving with a suspended license. He was also cited for operating an uninsured vehicle, speeding, improper lane usage, and disobeying a traffic control device. He is due in court Oct. 20.

On Sep. 5 at 10:03 p.m. at the 1000 Block of Sheridan Road, Daniel Scaunas of Glenview was arrested for speeding 26-34 mph over the limit. He is due in court Oct. 20.
