Wilmette Cops Investigate Vehicle Burglaries, Thefts

Over the last week, police in Wilmette are investigating a series of auto burglaries in addition to a report of a stolen vehicle that is said to have been used in the commission of a number of the crimes.

A release issued Thursday indicates several vehicles were entered just south of the 4th and Linden “El” station overnight from Monday to Tuesday, when the stolen vehicle was also reported.

Police are urging citizens to lock the doors to all vehicles, noting most of the 70+ car burglaries reported this year have taken place overnight and involved unlocked vehicles.
