Wilmette Obituary: Mary Jane Petty

Mary Jane Petty nee Hillier, 90, of Mountain Home, AR, passed away August 13, 2015 at Belmont Village in Carol Stream, IL.

Mrs. Petty was born October 2, 1924 in Galesburg, Illinois to Garnet (Watson) and Charles Hillier. Mrs. Petty graduated from the University Of Iowa School Of Nursing, and worked for the Visiting Nurses’ Association. She and her husband Richard raised their family in Wilmette, IL, and then retired to Mountain Home in 1990.

Mrs. Petty is survived by seven children: sons, Richard (Cynthia) of Chicago, IL, Roger (Carol) of Mountain Home, and Raymond (Lynne) of Highland Park, IL; daughters, Janice (William) Carpenter of Arvada, CO, Judith (Donald) Calhoun of Crown Point, IN, Jeanne (Greg) Hansen of St. Charles, IL, and Jennifer Prouty of Wheeling, IL., 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mrs. Petty was predeceased by her husband Richard, her parents, a sister and two brothers.

Mrs. Petty was a member of St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church. She was a Master Gardener, and belonged to the Lady Elks and Woden Bookworms Book Club. Mary Jane will be remembered as a gentle, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose family and faith were the center of her life.

Visitation Tuesday August 18, 2015 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Donnellan Family Funeral Home, 10045 Skokie Blvd. at Old Orchard Rd. Skokie, Funeral Mass Wednesday, August 19, 2015 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 524 Ninth Ave. Wilmette, IL 60091. Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
