The Wilmette Park District's Board of Park Commissioners officially declared a board vacancy at the Park Board meeting on Monday, August 9. During the meeting, the board outlined the process for filling the vacancy. Potential candidates must be registered voters who will have been Wilmette residents for one year prior to being appointed.
The Board vacancy was created by the recent resignation of Todd Shissler. The selected candidate will fill a two-year term which runs until the next regularly scheduled election in April 2023. Interested community members are invited to submit statements of interest and qualifications before midnight on August 29, 2021. Application details, including a questionnaire, are posted on the Park District's website at www.wilmettepark.org/park-board.
A Board will review candidate statements and conduct phone interviews. The Board hopes to vote on the appointment once a consensus is reached.
Questions regarding the application process can be directed to Executive Director Steve Wilson via email at swilson@wilpark.org or by phone at 847-256-9617.
