Wilmette Public Library Hosts Panel of Independent Booksellers

"Independent Bookstores: Alive and Kicking!" to be held on June 2 at 7 pm

On June 2 at 7:00 p.m., representatives from The Book Stall in Winnetka, Bookends & Beginnings in Evanston, and Women & Children First in Chicago will join together for a panel discussion about the current state of independent bookstores at the Wilmette Public Library, 1242 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette.

At the program, “Independent Bookstores: Alive and Kicking,” Stephanie Hochschild of The Bookstall, Nina Barrett of Bookends & Beginnings, and Lynn Mooney of Women & Children First will discuss why indie bookstores are thriving and how are they meeting the challenges of new technologies, their changing relationship with publishers, and Amazon, the big gorilla on the block.

This event is part of the Wilmette Public Library’s One Book, Everybody Reads program, which is featuring author Richard Russo’s novels, Nobody’s Fool and Everybody’s Fool, this spring.
