Wilmette Schools Closed Friday, Moving To E-Learning Due To Extreme Cold

Wilmette schools will be closed on Friday due to the anticipated extreme cold, officials announced.

WILMETTE, IL — Wilmette students will stay home on Friday, with some attending school online due to anticipated extreme cold, school officials confirmed.

The following schools will move to e-learning for the day:

  • Loyola Academy
  • Regina Domincan High School

These schools are giving students the day off on Friday:

All before and after school activities at the schools will be canceled.

The National Weather Service issued an extreme cold warning for the area on Friday, with windchills expected to be dangerous and as low as 35 below zero. Though outside activity is discouraged, officials recommend layering up and putting on a hat, face mask and gloves if you must go outside.

The high in the Wilmette area tomorrow is expected to be 0 degrees with a low around -5 degrees. Windchill values could be as low as -33 with speeds between 10 and 20 mph.
