Wilmette to Offer Seasonal Flu Shots Tomorrow

Appointments are necessary and there is a $25 fee.

As temperatures steadily drop and the frigid face of winter slowly approaches, the dreaded flu season is almost here.

But Wilmette residents aiming to avoid contracting the influenza virus this year can head to Village Hall tomorrow, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., to receive a flu shot.

The vaccine will be given to Wilmette residents aged 18 years and older for a $25 fee. Those who have Medicare Part B as their primary insurer can have Medicare cover the fee, though only if they don’t also belong to an HMO.

A posting on the Wilmette Village website stated that appointments are necessary and can be made by calling the Wilmette Health Department at 847-853-7507 or emailing baderd@wilmette.com.

The Village website also cautioned those with egg allergies, those currently experiencing fevers and those who have had previous allergic reactions to vaccines from getting a flu shot.
