WINNETKA, IL — Winnetka residents can now sign up for a Healthy Home Review, a village program aimed at helping homeowners assess energy use and identify ways to lower utility bills.
According to the Village of Winnetka, the program is being offered in partnership with The Electric Home Company. The review includes a complete infrared thermal scan of each home and an assessment of electrical service, HVAC system, hot water heating, and cooking and laundry appliances. To participate, homes must be less than 5,000 square feet.
The village says residents who complete the assessment will receive a full report with recommendations to save energy and reduce costs. The review also includes guidance on qualified contractors who can complete recommended projects, along with information about possible financial incentives and rebates tied to that work.
The program comes as local electricity rates increased this year in Winnetka. According to the village, residents pay $0.1787 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in the winter and $0.1905 per kWh in the summer.
Residents interested in taking part can sign up for a home energy assessment on the Village of Winnetka website. After submitting an application, residents will receive a link to The Electric Home Company website and a coupon code to schedule the two-hour appointment.
