4 Injured After Truck Crashes Into Glencoe Coffee Shop

GLENCOE, IL — Four people were injured after a Ford Bronco crashed into Hometown Coffee & Juice in Glencoe on Tuesday morning, according to police.

The Glencoe Public Safety Department responded at about 10:28 a.m. Tuesday to the business at 700 Vernon Ave. for a report of a vehicle that had crashed into the building. When personnel arrived, they found the Bronco partially inside the business.

Four individuals were treated at the scene for minor lacerations caused by broken glass. Two of those individuals were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation, according to the department.

Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was being operated by a juvenile driver who was attempting to reverse out of a parking space when the vehicle accelerated forward, traveled over the curb and partially entered the business through a glass window. The incident remains under investigation, according to the department.

The crash briefly affected traffic in the area. The roadway was reopened at about 10:40 a.m., about 12 minutes after the department was dispatched to the coffee shop. The building was later inspected by a Village building inspector and cleared to resume normal operations, officials said.
