Chicago Botantic Garden President Speaks to Sold-Out Crowd
The first Women's Business Luncheon at the Winnetka Community House brought in more than 120 people last week.

Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce co-hosted their first Women’s Business Luncheon where Keynote Speaker Sophia Siskel, President and CEO of the Chicago Botanic Garden spoke to a sold-out crowd. Over 120 people attended the event held at the Winnetka Community House.

In addition to Winnetka business professionals, women from many North Shore communities networked and gained insight from Ms. Siskel’s presentation which highlighted the benefits to the community of having a world-class botanic garden in our region and the people, from two to 92 who benefit from the garden’s programming.
Ms. Siskel also highlighted the importance of the Chicago Botanic Garden in its community outreach endeavors which tie it to the other attractions on the North Shore as destinations for visitors from the North Shore, the metro area and beyond. The audience of merchants, business professionals and civic leaders were privy to the many exciting plans for growth the Chicago Botanic Garden has planned for the near future.

“We were very fortunate to have Sophia Siskel as our keynote speaker today,” said Gina Speckman, the director of Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Many in the group today are familiar with the Chicago Botanic Garden but even they learned something new today. We were thrilled to bring people from all over the North Shore to the Winnetka Community House – many had never been before!”
