This week we continue our Take Five feature: Patch asks five questions of your own neighbors and other members of the community. Today we talk with one of the owners of the popular Winnetka retail clothing store.
is quite literally a Winnetka tradition. The business has been in existence for 64 years, and has now made its home in its third location over that time span.
Winnetka-Glencoe Patch took some time to speak with Jennifer Paden, who purchased the business with her husband Richard late last year.
Paden discusses why she believes the business has continued to flourish, the traditions her husband and herself continue, and what new offerings they have added to provide the unique type of service and experience their customers are accustomed to.

The store is named after Marian and Michael Otis, the children of the original owner when it was located on Lincoln Street in Winnetka.
Patch: What sets Marian Michael apart?
We provide classic, traditional clothing that is very characteristic of the North Shore. Also, we carry certain items like christening gowns and first communion dresses that are not easily found. The time and attention we spend helping our customers is something also hard to find these days. Both parents, and their children, like the clothing styles we sell.
Patch: What do you attribute the long and succesful history of the business to?
This is a generational business. We have people come in and say that they shopped here when they were children and are now buying for their own. We customize for our customers; there is always someone here to help people if they would like it.
Who are your biggest customers?
Grandparents are a good majority of our customers, most of which grew up knowing this business and have been long-term customers. They, in additon to our other customers, appreciate the traditional styles we carry.
What are the size ranges for clothing you sell, and any other offerings?
We have the widest selection of baby gifts, and clothes for females, birth to women's size 16. We also carry clothing for boys up to size 16.
Custom party dresses designed by Jessica Lynn and Andrew Adela also have become very popular, especially for Loyola, Faith Hope and New Trier graduations. Our Golftini and tennis clothes have become popular as well.
Marian Michael is located at 566 Chestnut Street in downtown Winnetka. Check out their .
