100-Year Sentence for Woodridge Man Who Sexually Assaulted 87-Year-Old Woman

Tevin Rainey will be eligible for parole in 85 years.

WOODRIDGE, IL— A DuPage County judge handed down a 100-year prison sentence Tuesday for a Woodridge man who was convicted of robbing and raping an 87-year-old Westmont woman in 2015. The crime took place on January 1, 2015 in the woman’s home.

Tevin Rainey, 23, was convicted on three counts of aggravated sexual assault, two counts of home invasion, and one count of aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery and armed violence, according to Daily Herald. He faced up to 120 years in prison after the conviction. When Judge Brian Telander sentenced Rainey to 100 years on Tuesday, the judge said, “I don’t believe there is a shred of human decency in you,” Daily Herald said.

On January 1, 2015, Rainey entered the home of an 87-year-old woman and she was awoken by him standing over her and removing her clothes, according to her testimony. He sexually assaulted the woman, causing multiple internal injuries. Afterwards, Rainey used a gun to threaten the woman and demand that he take her to her bank to get him money. The woman drove Rainey to her bank and withdrew $300 from the ATM.

Then Rainey demanded that she drive him to his aunt’s home in a nearby apartment complex. She complied before driving home and calling 911. Westmont Police joined forces with the Woodridge Police Department and DuPage County Crime Lab to identify and track down Rainey, who had been in jail for an unrelated offense.

Tevin Rainey, who still maintains that he is innocent, must serve 85 years in prison of his 100 year sentence before his is up for parole.
