The 11U Woodridge Bulldogs won 6 straight games to win the 20 team Lisle Summer Classic tournament. Coach Brian Jarvis said: “Every game we played was tough, but the two games that we came from behind to win in the last two innings showed how resilient our team is”. The Bulldogs biggest win came during the quarter final game when they were trailing 4-1 going into the bottom of the 6th when they scored 4 runs to go up 5-4. Their opponent tied it up in the top of the 7thand the Bulldogs pulled it out in the bottom of the 7th with a sacrifice bunt and won 6-5.
“That’s the great thing about our team, no matter what the score is or if any mistakes are made, we feel that we are always are in the game until the end. We have a group of kids that believe in themselves and each other so much, that any one of our boys can step up and make a difference when needed”, Jarvis added. The Bulldogs used 7 different pitchers during the tournament and went on and won the final two games to capture the title. Woodridge’s record year to date is 42-9, and will finish the year with a tournament in Wisconsin Dells.
