2014 Scholarship Winners Announced by Woodridge Rotary Club
2014 Woodridge Rotary Club Scholarship Winners

As students in the Woodridge area go off to college for the first time, two Woodridge residents are going with substantial scholarship funds provided by the Woodridge Rotary Club. The two “Service Above Self” winners for 2014 were presented along with their families and their accomplishments to the club in June at the Rotary Club’s annual officer induction dinner.
Apoorva Sooranahalli (shown in photo) graduated from: Downers Grove South High School this year and will attend the University of Illinois at Chicago where she will major in biochemistry and biomedical engineering. Elizabeth Wylly graduated from Naperville North High School this year and will attend Xavier University in Ohio to major in special education. Both students reside in Woodridge.
These young women were selected because they have significantly contributed their time and efforts during high school to the service of others in the spirit of Rotary. Rotary is an international, humanitarian service organization whose motto is “Service Above Self”. Two $2,000 scholarships are given out each year to students who have gone above and beyond in their after-school activities. Both of this year’s winners worked to provide assistance for fellow students who were financially, physically and mentally challenged.
