ProLogis / Village of Woodridge Scholarship
The Village of Woodridge and the ProLogis Foundation have scholarship applications available for Woodridge High School seniors attending college in the fall. The primary criteria for applicants are: good citizenship, academic excellence, demonstrated leadership, campus or community involvement, and Woodridge residency. Scholarship applications are judged by a panel selected by the Mayor of the Village of Woodridge.

Applications and the scholarship brochure can be found in high school guidance offices, at the Woodridge Village Hall or in this website’s document center. Completed applications must be returned to the high school guidance office by Friday, February 20th . If you have any questions, please contact Leslie Davies at (630) 719-4706.

Woodridge Rotary Club 2015 Service above Self Scholarships
The Woodridge Rotary Club is seeking applicants for its Service Above Self Scholarships. The $2,000 award recognizes exceptional community service performed by graduating high school student(s) pursuing higher education. The scholarships fund advanced education at colleges, trade or technical schools. Eligible applicants include all Village of Woodridge residents as well as non-residents where Woodridge is the primary Rotary Club. Two scholarships are available.

The scholarships provide financial support to students who have participated in community service activities over several years. The Rotary Club is looking for students who have made a difference within their community by enriching the lives of others, especially those in need. Applications will be evaluated on the quality and level of community service activities and volunteer work listed. While school and church activities are important, examples of volunteerism throughout the wider community are being sought. Students must also have a C average or better to be eligible.

Woodridge Special Events Committee Kagann Scholarship
The Woodridge Special Events Committee (WSEC) is once again sponsoring their annual scholarship to honor its founder, Joel Kagann. The award will be presented to a current eighth grade student living in Woodridge, based on his/her community service involvement. The award will pay up to $500 for the winner’s registration fees for his/her first year in high school.

Joel Kagann, founder of the Woodridge Special Events Committee, was an active member of the Woodridge Community for over 50 years. His entire life was dedicated to serving others in the community. The WSEC continues to honor his service through this scholarship.
Students can be nominated by their school, the service organizations(s) with whom they served or through self-nomination. ANY eighth grader who has helped out in the community is eligible. An application form can be found here.

Nominations must be received by March 30th and the winner will be notified by April 30th.

VFW Jim Stewart Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Woodridge Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #1578 with the intention of assisting high school students in their pursuit of continuing education. The applicant must demonstrate the spirit of what Comrade Stewart believed in – namely his patriotic and community based principles. This fund was established and shall be implemented annually, beginning with the 2006-2007 school year.

Eligibility: The applicant must be a descendant of a VFW-eligible veteran. That is, he or she must be a child or step-child, granddaughter or grandson, great-granddaughter or great-grandson, or brother or sister of a veteran who is/was eligible for membership into the VFW. That veteran need not be a current member. However, proof of eligibility is required (DD Form 214). Eligibility of veterans who qualify for VFW membership can be found here.

The applicant must be graduating from either Downers Grove North or Downers Grove South High School in the current school year with plans to pursue a higher education. This refers to schooling beyond the high school level, whether academic, vocational, or technical, taken at any state accredited institution of learning or training. A maximum of two $500.00 scholarships will be awarded. The application form is located here.
