Husband Shot Pregnant Wife Before Killing Himself: Woodridge Murder-Suicide

A man shot his 7-months-pregnant wife, killing her and the unborn infant. Another woman was also wounded in the shooting.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A man shot his pregnant wife to death days after she fled a domestic dispute by moving into a Woodridge apartment complex, Woodridge police said. Public Information Officer Jim Hoff said police believe Shedrick Pryor, 32, shot 24-year-old April Pryor late Monday, killing her and the couple's unborn baby before turning the gun on himself. Another woman who was in the apartment was also shot and wounded, police said.

Woodridge police responded to a report of shots fired at 7741 Fox Drive minutes before midnight. Officers who entered the apartment found Shedrick and April Pryor in the living room with what appeared to be fatal gunshot wounds, Hoff said.

A second woman was found in the rear of the apartment with a non-fatal gunshot wound, according to police. Lisle-Woodridge Fire District paramedics transported her to a local trauma center in critical condition, Hoff said. (Get Patch real-time email alerts for the latest Woodridge news. “This tragedy is devastating for the two families involved – we hope they remain strong and
united during this difficult time,” Woodridge Police Chief Brian Cunningham said.

A resident of the apartment complex told WGN she heard a man kicking and banging on an apartment door, then screaming and fighting after he entered the apartment. She said she was calling the police when she heard gunshots. According to a neighbor, several children were reportedly in the apartment at the time of the shooting, WGN reported.

Hoff said Tuesday morning that no children were harmed in the shooting.
