WOODRIDGE, IL — Woodridge police issued 31 citations to drivers during a traffic safety campaign that coincided with the Memorial Day holiday.
The increased patrols, which focused on seatbelt safety, began May 15 and concluded May 26.
In addition to the traffic citations, Woodridge police arrested one person for an outstanding warrant.
“Thanks to the efforts of our officers, more drivers and passengers were reminded to buckle up, helping to prevent injuries and save lives,” Woodridge Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a statement.
He added, “Every citation and safety
check reinforces the message that seat belts work.”
The campaign was part of the statewide "Click It or Ticket" initiative.
