The Tornado forced them to start over from nothing. As if that weren't enough, Don was soon after given a devastating cancer diagnosis that led to multiple surgeries, followed by months of grueling chemotherapy and radiation. During that time, Cindy became his full-time caregiver, standing by his side day and night while Don was unable to work. Don eventually returned to work over the past two years, determined to rebuild their lives — but the hardships didn't stop there. Cindy then faced serious health challenges of her own, including a mild stroke. Now, Don is battling the long-term side effects of his cancer treatments, which have triggered an autoimmune disease attacking his lungs and once again leaving him with limited ability to work. This couple has faced more than most people could imagine, and they have never stopped fighting.
Our goal is to raise $7,500 to help Don and Cindy cover their rent for a few months so they can get back on their feet. Any contribution, big or small, means the world to them — and to everyone who loves them.
On Sunday, May 31st from 3pm to 7pm, come out to Shanahan's Food and Spirits (1999 W. 75th St., Woodridge, IL 60517) for an afternoon of live music, great food, and good company — all in support of Don and Cindy. The suggested donation is $30, which includes:
Every dollar raised goes directly toward helping this incredible couple get back on their feet. Come for the music, stay for the community, and leave knowing you made a difference.
