Multiple Cars Stranded In Floodwater In West Suburbs, Video Shows

WOODRIDGE, IL — Aerial footage captured multiple cars stranded in floodwater in Chicago's west suburbs, as shown in video published Sunday on X.

The recordings, posted around 4 p.m. by the account Chris Weather Chasing, show a vehicle stopped amid floodwater in the area of residential Woodview Drive in Woodridge, as well as a car parked with its hazard lights on midway out of a flooded highway entrance lane on Interstate 355.

"Flash flooding is extremely dangerous, especially at night," the National Weather Service Chicago said Sunday in a social media post. "Turn around, don't drown."

Parts of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana are under a flood watch from 9 p.m. Sunday to early Monday morning, as localized rainfall rates were forecast to potentially exceed 2 inches per hour.

"Portions of the watch area received 1 to 3 inches of rainfall earlier today and will be more susceptible to flooding with any additional heavy rainfall," according to the flood watch.
