The Rotary Club of Woodridge's recent Back-to-School Duck Dash was a financial and joyful success! After a morning of duck games, donuts, and fun giveaways, a crowd of duck adopters cheered as more than 500 rubber ducks raced around the lazy river of the Woodridge Park District's Cypress Cove. Duck sponsors donated $10 per duck for a chance to win.

Congratulations to the three lucky ducks who took home the top prizes:

1st Place $1,000 - Lois Giovanetti

2nd Place $500 - Rick Knipfer

3rd Place $250 - Debi Ross

Held for the 2nd year in collaboration with the Woodridge Park District, the Rotary Club of Woodridge hosted a back-to-school charity event whose funds will support local youth with scholarships for participating in local sports and after-school child care. Everyday Woodridge residents, friends and family members, and generous Rotarians from across the area sponsored ducks, and local businesses gave generously to support the event. New this year, a duck-yellow drawstring bag, sponsored by Shanahan's, was stuffed with a duck-billed hat and great incentives from local businesses. The Doughnut Co. of Woodridge and Dunkin Donuts of Lemont provided morning treats; Puddles the Duck, a mascot from Illinois American Water, delighted attendees, and Home Run Inn pizza sent a truck full of piping hot slices for everyone to enjoy after the August 22 race.

The Rotary Club of Woodridge gives back to the community through volunteering and fundraising. Support Duck Dash sponsors with your business and visit the Rotary Club of Woodridge online to see how you can join or support the Rotarians, people of action!
