WOODRIDGE, IL — A beloved frozen pizza brand with ties to Woodridge has been discontinued after 60 years, according to reports.
Conagra Brands recently announced it has discontinued production of Celeste's. The frozen pizza's recipe and name come from Celeste "Mama Celeste" Lizio, an Italian immigrant who opened a pizzeria in Chicago in the 1930s using her mother's recipes
Over time, Mama Celeste's restaurant spaces closed and the pies were sold to nearby restaurants.
Mama Celeste died in 1988, but her famed pizza recipe is still being served at Clara's Italian Restaurant in Woodridge, which was founded by Celeste's daughter, according to their website.
