August Auto Sales Highest in Years

The auto industry had its best sales month in August since 2007 β with 16.1 million new cars and trucks sold, a 16 percent jump over last August β which means theΒ auto industry is proving to be a big driver of the nation's economic recovery, according to Patch's friends at Aol Autos.
- SubaruΒ was up 45 percent
- BMWΒ gained 35 percent
- Audi,Β Maserati,Β Porsche,Β Jaguar,Β Land RoverΒ and Lexus all posted sales increases of 20 percent or more;
- HondaΒ rose 27 percent
- ToyotaΒ rose 23 percent
- NissanΒ rose 22 percent
American carmakers are feeling the boost, too.Β GMΒ was up 15 percent, andΒ FordΒ andΒ ChryslerΒ gained 12 percent each. There's reportedly a shortage of the much-in-demand Ford Fusion, otherwise Ford's sales would've been higher.Β Read more at Aol Autos.
