Because One Is Too Many

Because One Is Too Many is a community gathering designed to raise awareness of domestic violence & sexual assault. 1is2many.eventbrite.com

Statistics are constantly being thrown at us: 1 in 4 women will become the victim of domestic violence, 1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted in college, 1 in 6 men will be sexually assaulted before the age of 18. We read the articles full of heart wrenching stories about assault and violence in our communities, but what can we do about it?

Education is one the most important tools in ending this problem, along with open, judgment-free communication. Because One is Too Many is a community event where we’ll discuss:

* Myths of assault

* Assault & pop culture

* Being an assault survivor (women AND men)

* Student’s Rights

* What to do if someone discloses to you

* What we can do as a community

* Resources

This is a free event on October 11th at Benedictine University’s Scholl Hall Room 101 from 1:30pm-3:00pm learn more about these issues as well as opportunities to get involved. Everyone is invited, including men! Domestic violence and sexual assault affect everyone no matter gender, race, economic background or religion. Please join us!

There will be refreshments after the seminar at WAR Chest Boutique located at 4 E Jefferson in Naperville for drinks and snacks. WAR Chest is a nonprofit boutique where everything in the boutique is made or sourced by an at risk woman or a woman rescued from human trafficking domestically and internationally. We’ll be joined by Mutual Ground and Family Shelter Service.
