Blue Light Bulbs To Honor 9/11 Police, Firefighters In Woodridge

Residents are encouraged to display a blue lightbulb between Sept. 8 and 11 in honor of emergency responders.

WOODRIDGE, IL — The 17th anniversary of the Sept. 11 tragedy is fast approaching and Woodridge has planned a special way for guests to honor first responders and emergency personnel in silent solidarity. Ahead of the anniversary, residents can get a blue light bulb to illuminate on their front porch to commemorate police, firefighters, and other heroes who lost their lives that day while saving others.

The lightbulbs will serve a double duty by celebrating local police and fire crews.

Select churches throughout the village will have blue lightbulbs available in limited quantities for residents who want to participate. Homeowners can pick up these lightbulbs on a first come, first served basis at participating churches on Sept. 1 and 2.
