Why DGN Football Fans Shouldn't Get Too Excited...Yet
The DGN Trojans are playing very well this year, but can it continue into the playoffs?

The Downers Grove North Trojans have clinched a spot in the playoffs, and many Trojan fans, including myself, are happy about this. This is the first time since 2008 that the Trojans have gone this far, which makes this an exciting time for DGN football. However, there are a few problems that I have seen with this team, and a few reasons why Trojan fans should not get too excited… just yet.
The Trojans have been playing teams that are good, but not necessarily teams that are going to be winning state championships anytime soon. Their only loss of the season came against Lyons Township, who is ranked #67 in the state. To me, this shows that the Trojans have difficulty playing tough teams, which could be a problem.
The Trojans have #24 Hinsdale Central on their schedule, as well as #2 Glenbard West. After seeing this, I can only help but wonder how the Trojans will do against these teams, which are ranked very highly in the state. If the Trojans have difficulties against the #67 team, will they do worse against higher ranked teams, or will they realize they need to step up their game and win?

This may not matter much right now, since the Trojans are already in the playoffs. However, only the best of the best make it that far, and there is a good chance that the Trojans will be seeing Glenbard West, or another top ranked team, in the playoffs.
I am a DGN alum, and I really want to see the Trojans have success, but at the same time, I think Trojan fans should realize that the teams the Trojans have defeated so far are all ranked below #100 in the state. Not to say that the Trojans cannot make it very far this season, but they may need to do some re-thinking.
