Why I am running for Mayor

I am running for Mayor because I want to make Woodridge a better place to live.  I believe my experience as Village Trustee the last 2 years, along with my record of fighting tax increases, makes me the best candidate for Mayor.

The Village is responsiible for providing "core services" such as police protection and roads/infrastructure, to the residents.  The Village needs to always work to improve the level of services provided and to make sure we are doing it efficiently.

Woodridge has a great future, but we also will be facing economic challenges. Our reserves will drop 50% in the next 5 years.  We must stop raising property taxes.  Whether you are a senior living on a fixed income, someone who has suffered a job loss, or just the average person trying to provide for your family, you know how property taxes affect your life. 

The 2 years I have been on the board, the board has voted to raise property taxes. Just a few months ago, the Mayor, and Trustees Cunningham, Beavers and Banks again voted to raise your property taxes.  I, along with trustees Pittinger and Kagann, voted "No" to raising your property taxes.

Government can provide excellent "core services" and lower property taxes. Families and businesses have tightened their belts.  Government must do the same.  We can lower spending by using "zero budgeting" and by using increasing sales tax reveneue to lower the tax burden on seniors and working families.

I have knocked on many doors during this campaign and high property taxes is the number one issue for most voters. I will lower village property taxes.  This election, you have the power to decide if your taxes will go up.
