Woodridge Youth Commission
As Mayor I'll bring together the entire community to get the Woodridge Youth Commission started.
This is an update on my plans for the Woodridge Youth Commission. Since this would eventually be run out of the new Athletic Recreation Center there will be significant savings realized from no longer needing to rent space in the storefront currently housing the Community Resource Center.
Additionally, including the business community gives us opportunities to have sponsors pay for the programs we develop.

Woodridge Youth Commission
One of the first initiatives that I will get started on as Mayor is expanding the Community Resource Center into the Woodridge Youth Commission - without expanding the budget. The CRC is currently under Police Department direction. It’s located at 8274 Janes Ave. and provides a variety of services to Woodridge kids. While they have done a good job I believe we can do more for more. It will be moved from under the Police Department and become a commission with both an adult and student board.

I’ll invite the Park District, all of our School Districts, and the Police Department to be partners with the Village as we develop programs and services for Woodridge kids. We will involve the entire Woodridge business community as well to make sure this is a total community effort.
We will look to provide programming of various types to keep kids busy in constructive ways. We will expand on the current offerings of the CRC and include grade school to high school students. We will have jobs to be filled by kids, positions that will require them to go through resume writing and interview processes. We will work with the schools to make sure we can help build upon the new Common Core curriculum they are embarking on. We will include the business community so they can provide input on what skills they will need in tomorrow’s employees.
We will keep them involved and we will help to develop tomorrow’s leaders. While it might be too much to expect every child in Woodridge to participate, every child will be welcome. We’ll make it the place for kids to belong to and we’ll give them a say in how it’s run and what activities and programs we’ll provide.
