Dancing with Stevie - Fighting Cancer with Beauty and Grace

In July 2016, a few days before her 18th birthday, Stephanie (Stevie) Anderson was diagnosed with stage IV Osteosarcoma bone cancer. Stevie is a graduate of Downers Grove North High School and lives in Woodridge, IL. From July through October, she underwent two five-week cycles of chemotherapy which helped to shrink the tumors in her pelvis and lungs. The next step in treatment was to have a hemi-pelvectomy to remove the left half of her pelvis; however, she has decided not to have the surgery. She is currently working with an alternative doctor who is using holistic approach to reverse the cancer. She is feeling good and is praying for positive results on her next set of scans.

Stevie wants to have a normal life and cannot wait to enroll in college classes. She wants to continue working at her part time job, also. She is interested in eventually working in the medical field as pharmacist or some other type of role in which she can help other cancer patients.

“Fighting Cancer with Beauty and Grace” is the theme for Dancing with Stevie. This is a fundraiser to help raise money for medical expenses related to Stevie’s ongoing treatment.

“I formed "Dancing with Stevie" because I saw a great opportunity for our local communities to come together and help one of our neighbor families. After growing up in the Woodridge and Downers Grove area and raising our children here, I know how fortunate we all are to have such a caring community.” Kim Simpson, Fundraiser Coordinator, provided some insight behind her involvement with the efforts to coordinate all activities related to the fundraiser. “We have the gift of time, meals and an opportunity to have a night out together, buy a raffle ticket, a t-shirt or simply make a donation. Together we can make a difference for the Anderson family.”

The details for the fundraiser are as follows:
Date: February 4, 2017
Time: 6:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Place: Chateau Orleans Banquets (aka Chuck's Southern Comforts Cafe), 8025 Cass Ave., Darien, IL (semi-formal/cocktail attire optional)
Event ticket costs: Adult tickets - $35 until 1/28/2017; $45 at the door. Child tickets - $25 until 1/28/2017; $45 at the door.
Raffle: $5 each or 5 for $20. 1st prize: $250; 2nd prize: $100; 3rd prize: $75; 4th prize: $50; 5th prize: $25 (10:00 PM drawing; need not be present to win)

Other activities: DJ, dancing, food, entertainment, silent auction and cash bar.
