Woodridge Death Investigation Involved Apparent Suicide: Police

Residents said they saw a heavy police presence and crime scene investigators. Police say the public is not in danger.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A death investigation is underway in Woodridge, police confirmed Friday. Police say "all indications" point to a suicide, but are awaiting confirmation from the DuPage County Medical Examiner's Office.

Residents told Patch they had seen heavy police and crime scene investigation activity near the intersection of 71st and Woodridge, where the annual Woodridge Jubilee is held, early Friday.

Police said they could provide no further details, but stressed that the community was not in any danger.

Residents who live near the scene told Patch they had seen an abandoned car in woods. Another resident told Patch their child's school bus driver witnessed a body being carried out on a stretcher.

Public information officer James Hoff confirmed the apparent suicide Friday afternoon and said no further information is available at this time.
