District 58 Celebrates Successful Summer School Program

Chinese Immersion students will share their learning Thursday.

Downers Grove Grade School District 58’s dynamic summer school program offers a variety of fun and engaging classes. Among the unique course selections is a Chinese Immersion class, which teaches students about Chinese culture, as well as Mandarin Chinese language skills.

The program, which is led by StarTalk, will conclude with a special public performance on Thursday, July 16 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Indian Trail School gym, 6235 Stonewall Ave. The performance will feature singing, dancing, demonstrations and Mandarin conversations.

“The students have clearly demonstrated their hard work and enthusiasm for learning the Chinese language. I am very proud of the students’ learning attitude during this short period of time,” said Susan Wu, StarTalk course instructor. “Their progress will be evident throughout the entire performance.”

After the performance, guests may visit the Chinese Immersion classrooms and view a student showcase featuring cultural decorations, handmade crafts, Chinese calligraphy and classwork.
