District 58 Opens Summer School Registration

The district will offer new summer learning opportunities.

Downers Grove Grade School District 58 will host a variety of summer learning opportunities to help students progress academically during their summer vacations.

To register for regular education summer school and/or band/orchestra classes, please visit https://www.dg58.info/SummerSchool/index.php. Click “Login” and enter the password. District 58 emailed the password to parents on Thursday, April 16.

Summer school is open to students enrolled in public, private or parochial schools. However, to participate, students must live within the District 58 attendance area and be entering kindergarten through eighth grade.

Please register early, as space is limited. The registration deadline is May 22, 2015. Transportation is not provided.

District 58 will offer the following learning opportunities:

  • Regular Education Summer School will take place Monday through Friday, June 11-July 1, from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at Indian Trail School, 6235 Stonewall Ave. We offer classes on the following subjects: reading, math, art and kindergarten prep.
  • Band and Orchestra Classes will take place Monday through Friday, June 11-July 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at Herrick Middle School, 4435 Middaugh Ave. The complete listing of classes is available on the registration website.
  • Technology - Digital Gaming Design will take place Monday throughThursday, July 6-16 from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at Indian Trail School.
    Language - Chinese Immersion Classes will take place Monday throughFriday, June 11-July 1 and Monday through Thursday, July 7-17. Both classes take place from 8 a.m. to noon at Indian Trail School.

Additionally, District 58 offers Extended School Year programming for those students who are eligible through their IEP. This program will take place Monday throughThursday, June 15-July 16, from 8:15-11:15 a.m. at Indian Trail. For more information or to register for Extended School Year, visit https://www.dg58.info/SummerESY and enter the password. District 58 emailed the password to parents on Thursday, April 16.

Other Summer Opportunities (outside the Summer School program):

  • Sports Camps will take place at Herrick Middle School throughout the summer. Herrick will offer volleyball, basketball and cross country camps for all incoming fifth through eighth graders. Registration information is available atwww.dg58.org/he. In addition, District 99 will host several sports camps for District 58 students.   • Local Organizations: The District 58 PTA and the Downers Grove Public Library each host summer learning programs. Contact your school’s PTA or the Downers Grove Library to find out more information.

New Learning Opportunities: District 58 is also working to develop and expand additional summer learning opportunities for students to enjoy! These opportunities will include some of the following.

  • Online Reading and Math Enrichment opportunities
  • Special Events at the Library – a partnership between the Downers Grove Public Library and District 58, including the summer reading program and the summer math club.
  • Summer Book Clubs – District-organized and parent-led
