Through May 25, the Downers Grove Police Department will be joining hundreds of other Illinois law enforcement agencies to remind motorists to “Click-it or Ticket.” The Memorial Day weekend kicks off the summer vacation season and the police department wants to ensure that everyone makes it to their destination safely.

During the 2014 Memorial Day holiday weekend, there were 12 traffic fatalities. Three of those fatalities were alcohol related. The best defense against an impaired driver is a safety belt.
