National Theatre Live Will Broadcast Live Performance of Travelling Light in Theaters Nationwide February 9
WHAT:
National Theatre Live continues its third season with Nicholas Wright’s new play TRAVELLING LIGHT, directed by Nicholas Hytner. Following Vincent in Brixton and The Reporter, Wright’s new play is a funny and fascinating tribute to the Eastern European immigrants who became major players in Hollywood’s golden age. The award-winning Antony Sher returns to the National to play “Jacob.” National Theatre Live is an initiative by the UK’s National Theatre to broadcast live performances onto cinema screens around the world.
A live Q&A will be hosted by Emma Freud with director Nicholas Hytner following the performance. The Q&A will discuss themes explored in the play and the history and emergence of film.
WHERE:
National Theatre Live can be seen in more than 300 select U.S. movie theaters. Visitwww.FathomEvents.com or www.ntlive.com for a list of participating theaters.

ABOUT:
How had a twenty–two–year–old pretentious layabout made a discovery that would elude every other cinematic pioneer for years to come? In a remote village in Eastern Europe, around 1900, the young Motl Mendl is entranced by the flickering silent images on his father’s cinematograph. Bankrolled by Jacob (Sher), the ebullient local timber merchant, and inspired by Anna, the girl sent to help him make moving pictures of their village, he stumbles on a revolutionary way of storytelling. Forty years on, Motl – now a famed American film director – looks back on his early life and confronts the cost of fulfilling his dreams.
