About CORD: For years many youth and adults have been inspired to visit the foothills of the Himalayas and witness the humble works but undeniable success of the Chinmaya Organization for Rural Development (CORD). The vision and work began in Siddhbari, Himachal Pradesh in 1985. Today this location serves as a training center to facilitate sustainable development in rural India through self-empowerment processes. CORD today has reached out to more than 700 villages in India and Sri Lanka, through integrated and sustainable development, focus on women's empowerment, leadership training, and economic self-sufficiency.
