Woodrige Rotary's 12th Annual Mini-Triathlon

The Rotary Club of Woodridge, in partnership with the Woodridge Park District and Village of Woodridge, are finalizing details for the 12th Annual Mini Triathlon, Chicagoland’s LARGEST Mini Triathlon. The Main Event and KiDs Events will take place on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the Woodridge Park District’s award winning Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park, 8301 S. Janes Avenue, Woodridge, IL. Registration opens on April 1, 2011.

The Main Mini Triathlon Eent is geared toward athletes of all abilities, age, shapes and sizes. Whether you are a rookie triathlete, a seasoned veteran in training or a weekend warrior this event is the perfect distance for you. Race Fee includes: official timing by Race Time, Inc., athletic T-shirt, water, food snacks, sponsor giveaways, and awards. Vendors will also be on-site to provide support services and offer their products throughout the day's event.

Athletes will complete a 250-yard swim equaling 10 lengths of a 25 yard swimming pool at Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park. At the swim start, swimmer athletes will be entered in the pools one at a time every 20+/- seconds and shall complete the required lengths in a "snake-like" fashion. After finishing the swim event, athletes will transition to the bike course for a 10k (6.2 mile) bike on local streets with a turn around at the halfway mark. Following the bike, athletes will transition for the final leg of the race, by running 2.1 miles on an asphalt running trail parallel to local streets.

Main Event Age Groups & Awards: Award for Overall Top Male and Female Finishes / Award for Top 3 Team Finishes / Awards for Top 3 Finishes in Each Age Division by Gender: Under 13 /14-19 / 20-24 / 25-29 / 30-34 / 35-39 / 40-44 / 45-49 / 50-54 / 55-59 / 60-64 / 65+ / Participation Awards for kids under 13 that did not receive an award.

Athletes who wish to form a three person relay team whereby each athlete chooses a segment (swim, bike, or run) of the race may do so, but must register individually for the specified fee (one team member must register a swim time in order to be seeding correctly). Each athlete in this scenario will be assigned the same BIB number as their teammates in order to receive a cumulative team time.

Not to leave out the kid athletes, a KiDs Event immediate follows the Main Event. The KiDs Mini Triathlon event is also geared towards kid athletes of all abilities, age, shapes and sizes. Tired of doing the 1 mile run at school? Challenge yourself to this once in a lifetime experience.

Kid Athletes will complete a 100 yard swim equaling 4 lengths of a 25 yard swimming pool at Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park. Athlete swimmers will be assigned based on their age and estimated swim time. At the swim start, swimmer athletes will be entered in the pool one at a time every 20+/- seconds and shall complete the required lengths in a "snake-like" fashion. Swimmers will also transition onto the bike course for a 5k (3.1 Mile) bike on local streets with a
turn around at the halfway mark. Following the bike, kid athletes will transition for the final leg of the race, by running 1 mile on an asphalt running trail parallel to local streets.
