Free Narcan Training Offered At Lisle-Woodridge Fire Station

Those who complete the training will also receive a free Narcan kit to keep on hand in case of emergency.

WOODRDIGE, IL — In an effort to combat overdose deaths from the ongoing opioid epidemic, DuPage County will host a free Narcan training session at the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Station. At the March 10 event, residents can lear how to use the life-saving tool to revive victims of opioid overdose.

The training session will cover how to spot symptoms of an overdose, how to administer Narcan, and how to dispose of the medication. After completing the training, participants can receive a free Narcan kit to keep on hand in case they witness an overdose.

In 2017, 95 people died of opioid overdoses in DuPage County. In a news release, DuPage County Coroner Richard Jorgensen said, "These numbers do not reflect the lives who have been saved by or Police, Fire and medical personnel using the opioid antidote naloxone,' adding that if it weren't for drugs like Narcan, that number would be "much higher."
