Frozen Fire Hydrant Adds Challenge During Apartment Fire In Woodridge

The fire broke out Wednesday morning in an apartment building on Janes Avenue.

WOODRIDGE, IL — A frozen fire hydrant and subzero wind chills created additional obstacles as firefighters battled a blaze in a Woodridge apartment building Wednesday morning.

The fire was called in around 1:40 a.m., with residents reporting the blaze was on the first and second floors of the building. When fire crews got to the scene, they saw flames extending from the building's first two floors into the attic and onto the roof.

All residents were evacuated safely. The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
