GOATs Give to Almost Home Kids
Time of year for giving. Teens volunteering. Woodridge Library's Teen Librarian and a GOAT representative deliver donations to AHK.
The Season For Giving
Teens taking part in the Woodridge Public Library's G.O.A.T.--Group of Advising Teens--program recently delivered a van-load of donations to the Almost Home Kids medical transition center in Naperville, following a fall collection drive.
Members of G.O.A.T. created an informative public display, educating Woodridge Library patrons about the role Almost Home Kids plays as a non-profit center that helps train parents and caregivers to properly care for children with medically complex health issues, often as they are returning home after long hospital stays.

The teens then asked for and collected items needed by the children and staff members. Donated items included over 9800 baby wipes, detergent for 280 loads of laundry and many bottles and boxes of hand sanitizer, batteries, pacifiers, lotion, sheets and towels. The generosity of the library patrons and teens was well received by the Almost Home Kids staff, who invited the teens to tour the facility as well as inviting the teens to volunteer at the center over the summer.
