Jaycees Plan Fundraiser for 11 Families Displaced in Woodridge Apartment Fire

The Woodridge Jaycees host a fundraiser to assist victims of the Golf Meadow Estates fire that occurred on May 1st. The Event is a Spaghetti dinner fundraiser to be held at Zero Gravity on June 7th. Read more about the event.

ON MAY 1, 2014 at approximately 11:15 am, an accidental fire was started at 7723 and 7725 Woodward Avenue in the Golf Meadow Estates Apartment complex in Woodridge.

Upon learning of the fire, the Woodridge Junior Chamber (Jaycees) went to work to reach out and determine what they could do to assist the families affected by the event.  That same day, the Jaycees were on site making contact with the Red Cross looking for ways to assist.  Since the fire on May 1st, the Chapter has reached out to all the families and has worked with other community organizations and individuals to obtain and distribute items that fulfill immediate needs of the victims.

In recognition of the families' need for assistance as they rebuild their homes, the Jaycees have decided to run a fundraiser to raise funds so the families can start rebuilding what the fire took away.

Led by Chairmen Jennifer Mullen and Debbi White, both Past Presidents of the Woodridge Jaycees, the Chapter has decided to run a Spaghetti dinner fundraising event on June 7th to raise necessary funds.

Current details include a donation of facilities for the fundraiser by Zero Gravity, located at the southwest corner of the intersection of 75th street and Route 53 in Woodridge.  Zero Gravity has also donated proceeds from the sale of beer and wine during the spaghetti dinner event!  Entertainment has been lined up by Angelsong Entertainment, a local DJ and karaoke company owned by Tina Mesmer, who is a former Woodridge Jaycee.

The event's committee is working with several other other groups, businesses and individuals, and representatives from both the Village of Woodridge and DuPage County.
