Increased Patrols Planned In Woodridge Throughout Holidays

Woodridge police plan to crack down on impaired driving starting Dec. 17 and through the winter holiday season.

WOODRIDGE, IL — Police in Woodridge will increase patrols during the holiday season in an effort to crack down on impaired driving. The campaign will be in effect Dec. 17 through Jan. 3.

"Driving impaired, whether under the influence of alcohol or drugs, can have catastrophic consequences and is illegal in every state,"Woodridge Deputy Police Chief Tom Stefanson said in a news release.

Stefanson added, "Not only do you put yourself at risk, but the lives of others as well."

The Woodridge Police Department recommends the following tips to avoid impaired driving this holiday season:

  • Designate a sober driver, arrange a ride-share or plan to take public transit
  • Call the Woodridge Police Department if you spot someone who may be driving impaired
  • Take keys away from impaired drivers before they get behind the wheel
  • Buckle your seatbelt
