Lakeview Boys Cross Country Takes Third in State

Two boys placed in the top 25 at the Illinois Elementary School Association State Cross Country Meet. Two Lakeview girls qualified individually to compete at state, as well.

The boys cross country team placed third out of 30 teams at the Illinois Elementary School Association State Cross Country Meet Saturday.

Two boys placed in the top 25 of hundreds of runners. Peter finished in 10th place with a two-mile time of 10:57. Joey placed 18th with a time of 11:05. They both received medals and special recognition.

Teams needed to place in the top three at their sectional to qualify. Top runners whose teams did not place in the top three could qualify individually.

Here are the results of Lakeview's other five runners: 

  • Will took 35th place with a time of 11:22
  • Alan took 69th place with a time of 11:47
  • Andrew took 91st place with a time of 11:57
  • Austin took 186th place
  • Kyle took 190th place. 

The team score was 163 points, just two points shy of second place. Most of the boys ran their personal record best times.

Two runners on the Lakeview girls cross country team qualified individually for state. 

Natalie and Paige ran their personal best two-mile times of 13:18 and 13:37. Of the top 300 finishers, Natalie finished in 107th place and Paige finished in 154th place.
